Hideaway bridge

When Gjemselund Bridge in Kongsvinger was to receive new lighting, the goal was to preserve the bridge's characteristic appearance. With classically shaped LED -luminaires from Vizulo and targeted lighting of the living areas, Norlux has combined modern lighting technology with respect for the bridge's architecture and history. A bridge with history

When Gjemselund Bridge opened in 1991, it became an important part of Kongsvinger's road network. The 200-meter-long bridge over the Glomma was built to improve traffic flow and relieve the city center.

Already during the planning, great importance was placed on the bridge's architectural design. Seen from the side, the bridge resembles the old Kongsvinger Bridge, which was damaged during the war in 1940 and later demolished.

35 years later, the time had come to upgrade the lighting. The challenge was to combine today's requirements for lighting and functionality with the desire to preserve the bridge's distinctive character.

Classic design meets modern lighting technology

To continue the bridge's traditional expression, Norlux has chosen Bell from Vizulo. With its characteristic bell shape, the luminaire fits naturally into the bridge's architecture, while also offering modern LED technology and customized light distribution provide an updated lighting solution.

The choice of luminaire is therefore about more than function alone. By combining classic design with modern lighting technology, the bridge's visual identity can be preserved, while the lighting meets today's needs.

As a supplement to the regular bridge lighting, Fleck is used to provide targeted lighting for the benches along the bridge. This highlights the seating areas, provides better visual orientation and adds an extra dimension to the lighting environment.

Vizulo develops lighting solutions for roads, parks, urban spaces and other outdoor environments. The manufacturer combines thoughtful design with modern LED technology and a wide range of optical solutions.
