Coop Mega Slependen

From old to new. Norlux contributed to the upgrade of Coop’s store in Slependen. Phased-out fluorescent fixtures, halogen & metal halide track lights have been replaced, and the store has been upgraded to Coop’s supermarket concept, Coop Mega. The chain’s most engaging stores provide an abundant selection of products, local food and fresh produce, such as fish, meat and baked goods. Norlux created the lighting concept and provided the solutions that highlight the store’s brand. See the result here.

From the entrance, the customer is led into the store by the linear fixture, Ledline and met by the lush Fruit & Green display. Here, the requirement was to create an inviting ambience that highlighted the fresh fruit and vegetables. The eye-catching black luminaire Ufo B, suspended from a light track and placed in a grid, provides evenness and flexibility in the general lighting. Lobus tracklights illuminate fruit and vegetables, while the Lata Wall II wall washers illuminate motifs and signage.

The lighting ensures that colours and freshness are displayed well. The colour temperature is adapted to the merchandize and produce, and a high CRI value ensures correct colour reproduction.

The seafood area is a vibrant element, where the ocean has been brought into the store. Here, the customer experiences a wall with seabed motifs and recessed aquariums. We were commissioned to add more life to the wall. We solved this with two track-mounted LED projectors that create an effective illusion of movement in water. See the video below.

Behind the fresh produce counters, we focused on combining good task lighting and highlighting of the fresh produce. The mounted, circular luminaire, LED Panel, provides excellent lighting for working conditions. The decorative copper-coloured Crux pendants are suspended over the counters, while a combination of Ceto and Zeta Mini downlights illuminates fresh produce and motifs on the back wall.

The general lighting in the commodity area is assembled using the Norlux Trunk LED system. These are placed centrally between the shelving displays and mounted 3.6 meters above the floor. With wide beam light distribution, even and good lighting is ensured from the top to the bottom shelf. Effect lighting, in the form of Lobus BI tracklights, are mounted on the same track system.

The showcasing of the beer section is highlighted with the recessed Zeta Mini downlights as general lighting, and Lobus tracklights focusing on the merchandise.

In the position of sale area, Mega required a new lighting concept. Linear luminaires have been replaced by circular Galactic pendants with large luminous surfaces. The pendants are specially coated Coop Mega’s green brand colour. The microprismatic diffuser of the pendant provides low glare securing even lighting in the area and working light for the employees at the cashier counters. The pendants are supplied with DALI, so the light can be adjusted to the desired level.
